Community Distro Project (working title)

Purpose:

The Community Distro Project (CDP) is a distribution service for community organizations and diy-projects, collecting flyers, pamphlets, and promotional materials from members and delivering them to a list of locations around the city. The CDP aims to support projects that often lack the time, energy, and resources necessary to carry out proper distribution of printed information. Distribution is done by a regular volunteer/staff/whatever, paid by members.

Project Philosophies:

  • Sustainability and Mutual Aid – The project must support the sustainability of itself, the distributor, and its participants by creating a model that listens to the needs of all involved.

  • Economical – the goals must be carried out with affordability for its participants and efficiency for itself in mind. The project must seek to make this task simple for all.

  • Explicit communication – the underlying aim is to improve awareness and communication with these groups in Seattle, and project organizers must act accordingly.

  • Applicability – The project must be conscious of the appropriateness of where items are being distributed.

  • Non-competitive – Items should be distributed without bias, keeping consideration of preference to urgency and applicability only. Also, this project does not seek to compete with non-participants or other distribution services.

  • Appreciation of Community Members – Items that are being distributed shouldn't make a mess at the locations where they're dropped off. The Distro will keep only relevant items in rotation, clean the stacks at every location, and do their best to keep things organized.

Execution of project:
