Cairo Gallery- 507 E Mercer St (near the corner of summit and mercer/206.453.4077/ cairocollection.blogspot.com// Cairo is a gallery, a boutique, and a working artist's studio. A little history for ya is that Braidstorm had their tape release party here, their one and only release party. The Cairo has also had some other amazing shows and we can only assume this will be a continuing trend. This place has some really amazing artists that hang their shows there. Their gallery and boutique hours are Saturday and Sunday Noon-6pm.
Theaters
Northwest Film Forum- 1515 12th Ave/movie line- 206.829.7863/nwfilmforum.org//Non-profit film theater. Hosts independent and international films. Also offers filmmaking classes and workshops.
Egyptian Theater- 805 E Pine St/ 206-781-575/landmarktheaters.com// Used to be a Masonic Lodge, hence, totally creepy. Plays the classics at midnight during weekends. Plays classics like Goonies, The Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park.
Capitol Hill Arts Center- 1621 12th Avenue/206.388.0569/capitolhillarts.com// Performance center that primarily puts on plays, but collaborates with groups to host other events.
Harvard Exit- 807 East Roy at Harvard /206.781.5755/landmarktheaters.com// This theater is really cool. It was built in 1925 and has balcony seating which is always fun. Shows indie and foreign films. Is owned by Landmark Theaters so just their website for movie times.

Practice Spaces
Chop House- On 11th/ 206.860.4913/chophousestudios.com// This place is pretty cool and a lot of really awesome bands practice here. They are usually all filled up with bands but if you are looking for a practice place you should definitely look here. The walls here are covered in bathroom/locker room scribble murals.
Cry Baby Studios- 1514 11th Ave in between Pine and Pike/ 206.660.0117/crybabystudio.net// If you want to see a huge basement where there are tons of practice spaces, check out Cry Baby. They have video games to play when you need to take a break from your jam session.

Richard Hugo House- 1634 11th Ave., Seattle, between Olive and Pine on Capitol Hill/206.322.7030/ hugohouse.org//The Richard Hugo house is a literary arts center, hosting a variety of lit events. The house hours are Monday thru Friday noon-6pm and Saturday noon-5pm. The super amazing thing about the Hugo House is that ZAPP (Zine Archiving and Publishing Project) is once again open but only as an archiving project. They are not publishing right now. But it is a ginormous zine library. You can go here and read zines during the follwoing times Wedensdays 4-8pm, Thrusdays 1-5pm and Saturdays 1-5 pm.

But the cool thing aobut it is that the people who work there are super helpful and you can actually work on your crafts there. Stitches has a project workspace where there are cutting tables and sewing machines available for you to use. The nice folks that work there will even help you out, give you ideas and answer your questions . They also have some sewing, knitting, and crocheting classes but those are kind of pricey.

Formerly Toys in Babeland, the store is brimming with goodies for your goodies. There is no judgment here; the staff likes to help you figure out which toy will help you get off in style. Home Alive!- 206.323.HOME/homealive.org// Home Alive is a grassroots organization offers self-defense classes on a sliding scale, taught within an anti-violence and anti-oppression framework. Instructors are friendly and generally very involved in other community projects. Currently they do not have a studio space but are working on getting that back. This is an amazing organization and they are looking for volunteers.

Espresso Vivace Roasteria- 532 Broadway Ave East/ 206.860.5869/ espressovivace.com// Fancy and delicious cafe right next to one of the best parks in Seattle. It was once next to the park but now is much farther down on Broadway but still fancy. There is also a espresso street bar on Broadway too. Open daily 6am-11pm.
In the Bowl Vegetarian Noodle Bistro- 1554 E. Olive Way @ Denny Way/ 206.568.2343// All vegan noodle bistro. The menu is very large and the prices are so cheap! They offer fake beef, chicken, duck, fish with any entree, and believe me you'll want to try the chiggen nuggets. You will get an amazing desert at the end. Also their 2 star is a regular 4 star, they know what spicy is! Mon, Wed-Thurs 11:00am -10:00pm, Fri-Sat 11:00am-10:30pm and Sun Noon-10:00pm

They serve delicious coffee and espresso. They even brought up those oh-so tasty all vegan Voodoo doughnuts too and they also serve the hometown vegan donuts Mighty O. The 12th Avenue location is open Mon-Fri 6 am-10 pm and Sat and Sun 7 am-10 pm. The Pine location is open daily 7 am to 9 pm.
Hot Mama's- 700 E Pine St/ 206.322.6444/ www.myspace.com/hotmamaspizza// Hot Mama's is a tiny little pizza that has amazing pizza. You might not always be able to sit at the counter and eat your pizza but you can stand outside or take it to go. Usually have about four or five different pies to choose from and then of course you can order one special. Their pizza is of the thin crust New york style pizza. Their hours are: Monday-Wednesday 11am-11pm, Thursday 11am-2:00am, Friday-Saturday 11am-3am, and Sunday 11am- 11pm.
Porchlight Coffee- 1515 14th Ave Ste B/ 206.947.2064/ porchlightcoffee.wordpress.com// This is the best coffee shop in Capitol Hill hands down. The coffee shop is really open and does not feel stuffy like some coffee shop in Seattle. Their are some small tables with chairs set up around the cafe and the great thing about is people actaully talk in the cafe to eachother...to strangers even. It really feels more like a community oriented coffee shop in that respect. So stop in and get a coffee and donut and say hi to Zack. He owns it and makes your coffee. Porchlight is open Monday-Friday 7am-6pm and Saturday-Sunday 8am-6pm.
Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream- 917 E Pine St/ 206.708.7947/ www.mollymoonicecream.com// Molly Moon's is an ice cream shop that has really crazy flavors like Honey Lavender, Balsamic Strawberry, and Salted Caramel. But then they also have all the old favorites like Vanilla and Coffee. All the cream is purchased from Western Washington creameries and most ingredients are local. Sometimes people wait for an hour in line to eat this ice cream but there is not always a huge line. They also have some great sorbets for vegans. Open daily noon -11pm.

Public Spaces
Seattle LGBT Community Center- 1122 East Pike Street/206.323.LGBT/ seattlelgbt.org// A meeting place and resource center for the GLBTQ community. Monday-Saturday 10am - 9pm and Sunday 11am - 8pm
Volunteer Park- 15th Ave E & E Prospect St./ Large and beautiful park on the top of Capitol Hill. Many lawns and small trails to spread out and lay in the sun, when it is sunny! Things To Do at the Park: Flower Conservatory is free and open daily 10am-4pm, with a beautiful display of blooming orchids, bromeliads, and a variety of cacti! Nice to hang out in on cold rainy days because it’s warm and steamy in there. Asian Art Museum is free every first Thursday of the month. The museum is open Tues-Sun 10am-5pm. The water tower is amazing and if you climb the 106 steps to the top you can see some really great views of the city.
Cal Anderson Park- between 11th Ave and 10th Ave, E Pine St and E Denny Way/Nice park near the heart of capitol hill. Newly updated with a fancy play field, playground, and Teletubby Hill.
Louisa Boren Park- 15th and Garfield//Small park with sweeping views of Lake Washington. Come watch young teens hotbox their parents’ cars.
Interlaken Park- 19th Ave E and E Galler St// This is a big park that has a switch-back road passing through it. Most scenic bike route between Capitol Hill and U District. Lack of lighting makes for precarious night riding. Beware of cliffs. There’s lots of cool trails going through this park, and is a nice place for botany-interested people to look for cool native plants.
Bellvue Place- Located on the corners of Bellvue Ave and Bellvue Pl. on a bike path that connects Melrose Ave to Eastlake. This park is also known as "cool dude" park. If you ride through this park at sunset, you'll catch a specatular view of queen anne and lake union.
Capitol Hill Branch Library- 425 Harvard Ave. E/206.784.4715/spl.org// It's a library… read great books. Mon-Tues 1pm-8pm, Wed-Thurs 10am-8pm, Fri-Sat 10am-6pm and Sun Noon-5pm.
Frye Art Museum- 704 Terry Avenue/206. 622.9250/ fryeart.org// Surprisingly diverse art collection considering the museum’s small size. Often hosts art from punk kids! FREE admission! Tues, Wed, Fri and Sat 10am-5pm, Thurs 10am-8pm, Sun Noon-5pm and closed on Mondays.
